The best croquetas I've ever had

One of my very favorite neighborhoods in all of Madrid is what I call Conde Duque, the area between Calle Princesa and Malasaña (map). Just recently I also discovered that it is also home to the best croquetas I've ever had. La Tabernilla de Amadeus (C/ Cristo, 2--marked on the above map) sits on a tiny little street right near the Centro Cultural Conde Duque and has a lovely terraza during the summer. And the croquetas de jamón are, simply put, amazing.

Gracias for these sweet memories. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hi Katie, Nice to meet you last week!
Maybe you can take me to this place sometime, Have you ever tried the croquetas de bacalao in Casa Labra? they are my current favorite. :)
Un saludo!

Well, the best croquetas you can have in Madrid aren't actually in Madrid.

There's a place in Guadarrama (45km northwest) called La Chimenea with the best cheese and ham croquetas of the whole region.

The owners are not very nice, and you need a car to go there... but the trip is a worthy one, trust me :-)

My favourite croquetas are the ones at El quinto Vino, hands down the best in Madrid.

Of course in my humild opinion.

I haven't been or heard of this place with croquetas, and I live right around the corner for 6 months out of a year. (travesia de conde duque)

I will look forward to it... although my favorite croquetas (and tapas in general) are found at Lateral in Plaza de Santa Ana!
